India & Pakistan start with wins

India and Pakistan opened their SAFF U16 Championship 2023 campaign with wins in their respective matches held at the Changlimithang National Stadium on Sunday.
On the first match of the day, India defeated Bangladesh 1-0, while Pakistan came from behind to defeat host Bhutan 2-1.
Thoungamba Singh Usham scored all important goal for India in the 74th minute. India now have three points after the win and will take on Nepal on 6 September. Bangladesh also have a match against Nepal on 4 September.
Pakistan, meanwhile, needed a 30th minute goal from Subhan Karim to see of host Bhutan.
Bhutan made a bright start going in the front in the 13th minute only to see it get cancelled by Pakistan in the 17th minute. Ubaid Ullah Khan silenced the home crowd scoring the equalizer.
Pakistan lead the standing with three points.
