Arafat bags a point for Bangladesh
Male' (4 Oct. 2021) - Arafat's header helped Bangladesh hold India to a 1-1 draw in their second match of the SAFF Championship 2021 being held at the National Stadium, Male, Maldives.
Arafat's equalizer came in the 74th minute when he dived in to connect Rakim Hussian's feed. With the point earned from the match, Bangladesh has four points and leads the table. Nepal, however, can claim pole position should they manage a win over Sri Lanka later in the day.
Bangladesh played with a numerical disadvantage from the 54th minute as Bishwanath Ghosh received the marching orders when he pulled down Liston Colaco who was clean through on goals.
In a keenly contested battle between the arch-rivals, captain Sunil Chettri gave India the lead in the 26th minute tapping in a cutback from Udanta Singh Kumam.
Bangladesh's next fixture is against host Maldives on 7 Oct 2021, while India takes on Sri Lanka on the same day.
