Bangladesh and India to play the finals

Bangladesh and India advanced to the finals of the SAFF U20 Championship on Tuesday.

For the final berth, Bangladesh earned a point from their 1-1 draw against Nepal, which gave them 10 points from four matches to keep them in the top spot in the points table. India, on the other hand, earned nine points after their 1-0 win over Maldives.

Nepal finished with seven points, while Maldives and Sri Lanka finished with a point each, but Maldives edged the latter on goal difference.

MD Piash Ahmmed Nova gave Bangladesh the lead in the 63rd minute only to be equalized by Nirajan Malla in the 69th minute.

For India, Gurkirat Singh found the back of the net in the 90th minute.

Speaking after the match, Nepal team assistant coach Bal Gopal Shahu said: “ It was a tough match and we were under tremendous pressure after the heavy defeat against India. It was difficult to recover from the match, but I think we did well in the match today. We had some incidents that we could have avoided in the field. It is not going to happen again.”

Bangladesh coach Paul Thomas Smalley said: I am very pleased with my players and staff. With reference to the game, it was a very competitive game. I think both sides There were some incident in the game, but we are pleased to get the necessary point to progress to the final.”
