SAFF Ordinary Congress held
17 Oct. 2021 (Male) - The South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) hosted it’s Ordinary Congress on Sunday 17 October, 2021 at Male, Maldives. With the support of the Football Association of Maldives (FAM) as local host, the Congress congregated all the Member Associations and SAFF Executive Committee along with representatives from the Asian Football Confederation (AFC).
The gathering successfully engaged fruitful discussions leading to important decisions on various matters focusing the overall development of football in this region. Convened by the SAFF President Mr. Kazi Md. Salahuddin and moderated by the SAFF General Secretary Mr. Anwarul Huq, the regional leaders proposed and agreed to host SAFF U-19 Women's Championship in Bangladesh and further continued their commitment to organize at least five competitions next year with the youth competitions being a key priority.
Throughout the discussions of the Ordinary Congress, the concerns and different matters related to The 13th SAFF Championship were discussed as well as the Presidents and General Secretaries of SAFF Member Associations shared their ideas, visions and challenges that they identified in their own country’s context. The meeting aimed to foster stronger regional cooperation and well adopted the current progress of work in both technical and non-technical areas.
The congress noted it's warmest congratulations to India for winning the 13th SAFF Championship and Nepal for reaching the final for the first time. The SAFF President also thanked the Football Association of Maldives (FAM) for successfully hosting the SAFF Championship 2021. Despite of the pandemic, SAFF Championship and SAFF Ordinary Congress at Male, Maldives ended with great success and meaningful deliberation of the regional leadership taking some important decisions for South Asian football to progress in the coming future.
