21 December 2021
Host Bangladesh will look to maintain their winning run it the ongoing SAFF U-19 Women's Championship 2021 when they take on India in the final to be held on Wednesday.
Bangladesh had advanced to the final of the tournament with an unbeaten run collecting 10 points from three wins and one draw. They had narrowly defeated India 1-0 in group stages. India, on the other hand, advanced with nine points.
Bangladesh head coach Robbani Choton Golam said, "Our matches have been going on as planned. Each match for us is a challenge and tomorrow's final against India is no exception. We have already defeated India in the group stages which shall be a motivating factor for our team. Our comfortable win against Sri Lanka has also instilled a lot of confidence in the girls. We shall give all we have tomorrow to keep home the title."
India coach Alex Ambrose said, "It's been a very happy week for us in Bangladesh. We have advanced to the finals of the competitions and we look forward to a happy game tomorrow against the host. It's not easy to play in the final especially against the host. They have a good backing up of the crowd. But this is where you have to show your character and cope with the pressure to move forward. There are a lot of youth tournament coming up in the year ahead in India and this tournament is definitely going to teach us how to handle the pressure.
"It is always a good opportunity to play against a good team and Bangladesh is a good team. I have seen the progress of Bangladesh in women's football. Nepal is also progressing fast. It is good to see more teams becoming competitive in the region. We all grow together and if all teams are competitive the football in the region will improve."
