A 10-man Bangladesh beat hosts Nepal 2-1 to emerge champions in Group A in the fifth edition of SAFF Under-15 Championship at the ANFA Complex, Kathmandu on Monday, October 29, 2018.
Ibne Ahad Sakil and Rajon Howladar scored for Bangladesh in the either side of the break intertwined by a goal of Jaan Limbu from spot kick for Nepal in the keenly contested game.
Bangladesh took only two minutes to go ahead when Sakil headed home a free-kick, but Nepal regrouped soon to give the former champions a tough time.
Namas Thapa Magar nearly scored the equaliser in the 28th minute when he was provided with a prefect cross from the left side with only goalkeeper to beat.
But the forward failed to connect the ball missing a golden opportunity.
Bangladesh were reduced to 10-man when their goalkeeper Mitul Marma was shown a straight red card for a foul inside the box and Limbu scored from the resulting penalty as the two teams went to the break 1-1.
Howladar scored for Bangladesh soon after resumption with a powerful shot after he received a cut back on the right corner of the box.
Bangladesh, who defeated Maldives 9-0 in their opening game, will play India in the first semi-final on Thursday, November 1, 2018.
Group runners-up Nepal will face Pakistan in the second semi-final on the same day.
