India completed the semi-final lineup of fifth SAFF Under-15 Championship when they beat Bhutan 4-0 in the last match of Group B at the ANFA Complex, Kathmandu on Monday, October 29, 2018.
Striker Paul Shubho scored a brace while Subba Kushang and Xalxo Aman added one goal apiece as India joined Pakistan, Bangladesh and hosts Nepal in the last four of the tournament as Group B runners-up.
Pakistan became champions in Group B thanks to their win over both India and Bhutan.
Needing just a draw due to their superior goal average, India found themselves ahead in just four minutes when the Shubho converted a penalty awarded to the team for a handball.
Bhutan kept India at bay in the reminder of the first half-half and came close to an equaliser in the 51st minute from a counter attack only to be denied by Indian goalkeeper.
Defender Kushag settled India’s nerve with a brilliant solo goal in the 66th minute when he received a ball in their own half and raced past three defenders down the right flank to slot the ball home.
Shubho made it 3-0 in the 83rd minute sprinting into box to score in far post after he received a long ball from the midfield.
Xalxo Aman completed the rout tapping the ball in after free kick in the last minute of the stipulated time.
India will now face the champions of Group A in the first semi-final of the tournament on Thursday, November 1, 2018.
