Nepal U-18 women made magnificent start in the SAFF Under-18 Women’s Championship 2018 with an explosive 12-0 win over Pakistan on the tournament’s opening day at Changlimithang Stadium, Thimphu, Bhutan on 28 September 2018.
The occasion should be a remarkable one for Nepal U-18s Rekha Poudel who scored 7 goals and rebranded herself as a goal machine in the match. She scored five goals in the first half and added two more in the second half.
Pakistan U-18 women got themselves busy protecting their goal post as Nepal built pressure on the Pakistan defense wall from the onset of the game. The Himalayans did not have to go goalless for long and got breakthrough in the 5th minute when Rekha Poudel scored her first goal, beating three Pakistani defenders.
Later, Rekha Poudel scored 4 more goals in the first half as Nepal led the first half 5-0.
In the lively second half, Nepal added seven more goals to their scoreboard though Pakistan got few chances to reduce the gap but all of their attempts ended in smoke due to Nepal strong defense.
Rekha Poudel added two more in the second half in the 71st and 74th minutes and five other Nepal girls – Saru Limbu, Rashmi Kumari Shising, Alisha Jimba , Manajali Kumari Yanjan and Manisha Raut – scored in the 47th, 67th ,82nd, 87th and 92nd minutes respectively.
In their second Group-B match, Pakistan will fight against Bangladesh on 30 September 2018 at the same venue at 7:00 PM Bhutan local time.
The 10-day long tournament will continue on September, 7, 2018 where six teams will fight to win the title, divided into two groups.
