South Asian Football Federation (SAFF)’s Press Release

The South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) held an Emergency Executive Committee meeting virtually
at 3 PM today 9th August 2021 through the online Zoom platform. The meeting was presided by the
President of SAFF Mr. Kazi Md. Salahuddin. The General Secretary of SAFF Mr. Anwarul Huq, the VicePresidents of SAFF, the AFC delegates and the respective Executive Committee member of each Member Association were also present for the meeting.

The agenda of the meeting was to decide the host nation for the prestigious SAFF Championship between the two respective bidders namely the All-Nepal Football Association and the Football Association of Maldives.

In his opening remarks Mr. Kazi Md. Salahuddin, the President of SAFF welcomed the delegates of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) and all the respective Executive Committee member. He further stated how thankful he is to the SAFF family for their continuous support and have appreciated everyone’s effort specifically the All-Nepal Football Federation and the Football Association of Maldives for their efforts to host the 13th edition of SAFF Championship, 2021.

The SAFF General Secretary Mr. Anwarul Huq appreciated everyone’s presence at the important meeting. He briefed the committee regarding the two bids that SAFF had received to host the 13th edition of SAFF Championship. In the meeting, the members of the Executive Committee discussed and unanimously agreed that the 13th edition of the SAFF Championship will be hosted by the Football Association of Maldives from 1-13th October, 2021.The General Secretary of Bhutan Ugyen Wangchhuk have requested SAFF to give them three days time to confirm their participation in the 13th edition of SAFF Championship, 2021.
