The South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) convened its Extraordinary Congress in Bangkok on 26 January 2026, during which the terms of the federation’s independent committees were renewed in view of the upcoming SAFF elections.

The Congress approved the renewal of the Disciplinary and Ethics Committee, the Appeals Committee, and the Electoral Committee. It also ratified amendments to the SAFF Statutes and the Standing Orders of the Congress, aligning them with the recently issued guidelines from the Asian Football Confederation (AFC).

“These decisions are central to strengthening our governance framework, upholding transparency, and ensuring the integrity of our competitions and electoral processes. I encourage all delegates to engage constructively and share your views openly so that we may reach well‑informed and collective decisions for the continued progress of South Asian football,” said SAFF President Kazi Md. Salahuddin in his opening remarks.

He also expressed appreciation for the support provided by FIFA and the AFC toward the development of football in the region. A special acknowledgement was extended to the Football Association of Thailand for their assistance in hosting the SAFF Futsal Championships.

Representatives from all seven member associations of the South Asian Football Federation were present at the Congress.
