South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) President Kazi Md. Salahuddin hailed the unity of the member associations of SAFF and expressed the federation’s commitment to continue working for the growth of football in the region.
While addressing the SAFF Congress held in Kathmandu on 24 May (Saturday), the president spoke about the unity of the member associations despite hailing from diverse backgrounds. He was of the view that the diverse cultural background in the region is the strength that the federation posses to upscale its footballing activities.
Earlier in the SAFF Executive Meeting held on the same day, the meeting approved the SAFF’s organization’s policies and the SAFF’s Safeguarding Policy to address the growing need of safeguarding of children in the sports.
In addition, the hosts for the three upcoming age group tournaments of SAFF were also approved. The tournaments: SAFF SAFF U-17 Women’s Championship will held in Bhutan in September 2025, SAFF U-17 Championship will be held in Sri Lanka in October 2025 and the SAFF Women’s Club Championship to be held in Nepal in November 2025.
The SAFF also got its first female executive member with Ms. Zimbiri from the Bhutan Football Federation being elected unopposed for the position.
In an attempt to make the federation’s activities more transparent, the members of the media were allowed to be present in the congress for the entire duration.
All member association representatives and executive members of the SAFF were present in the congress either in person or via online.

- Agenda of the SAFF Ordinary Congress 24 May 2025
- Appointment of scrutineers
- Appointing two minutes checkers
- Approval of the minutes of the preceding Congress
- Approval of the General Secretary’s activity report for the period preceding the Congress
- General Secretary’s Plan till the next Congress.
- Approval of the Financial Statements and the Auditor’s Reports for the year 2024
- Approval for the budget of the year 2025
- Proposals for amendments and alterations of the SAFF Statutes
- Approval of the appointment of an independent auditor for the year 2025
